OUR STORY

Mosaics are irregular or regular pieces that are intentionally placed together to create a unified whole piece of art. Mosaics are unique, just like we are, and how we view our clients.

By using this philosophy, we recognize that we aren't inherently broken. We're just learning how to make something beautiful, using the regular or irregular pieces we have.

Let’s work together to help you put the pieces back together so you can gain new perspective, practice self-compassion and live in alignment with your values.

OUR VALUES

TRAUMA-INFORMED

We pride ourselves in ensuring all clients are accessing care that follows the principles of trauma-informed approaches. We aim to establish safety, transparency, collaboration, empowerment, choice, and acknowledge gender & culture during all stages of the therapy process. Getting unstuck requires understanding "what happened to you?" instead of the traditional medical model of "what's wrong with you?".

INCLUSIVE

We honor your unique experiences and foster a warm and safe space for you to come as you are. Our identities are inevitably nuanced and intersect, which then impacts how we walk through the world. We welcome folks from all ages, ethnicities, racial identities, religious backgrounds, and gender or sexual identities.

EVER-EVOLVING

We are committed to ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and continuing education in order to best support the changing needs of our clients. We also recognize that our clients are the experts of their own lives. We learn from you in every session so that we can offer you the best therapeutic approaches based on your goals.

MSW, RSW
Founder

Vanessa is a registered social worker and completed her Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto. She's worked in the mental health field for over 13 years, in a variety of settings such as community nonprofits, healthcare and education. She supports folks across the lifespan and from all walks of life. She specializes in young adult and adult populations, treating anxiety, depression, trauma (including trauma caused by racism), increasing self-confidence, and navigating our cultural identities and life transitions. As a second generation South Asian woman of colour, it is important to Vanessa to provide non-judgmental and culturally responsive support by utilizing various therapy modalities. She draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Trauma Therapy. She also offers couple's counselling utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy and is Gottman Informed.

Although Toronto is her home now, she was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta (traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), Treaty 7). The mountains will always be a reminder of "home" to her. She loves to spend her time exploring her neighborhood with her goldendoodle pup, trying new restaurants and intentionally getting lost around the world.  In addition to providing therapy, she also has experience in instructing adult education, creating and facilitating therapy groups, and program development.

Aditi Thakker

MSW, RSW
Associate Therapist

I’m a Registered Social Worker and therapist with over seven years of experience across community services, supporting people impacted by violence, abuse, the legal system, and workplace well-being. I believe people are shaped by their experiences, relationships, culture, and circumstances, and I approach each person with curiosity rather than judgment.

I work with adults navigating life transitions, with particular interests in supporting women, South Asian clients, immigrants and newcomers. This may include adjusting to a new country or culture, exploring identity and belonging, navigating career or relationship changes, managing family expectations, rebuilding self-esteem, or feeling stuck.

My approach is flexible and collaborative. I draw from CBT, body-based practices, relational work, and goal-oriented approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. I also look at the bigger picture—your relationships, circumstances, culture, and patterns—rather than trying to fit you into a specific model.

I moved to Canada from India in 2022, so I understand that starting over in a new country can bring a complicated mix of excitement, pride, uncertainty, grief, and everything in between.

Outside of work, I love learning and experiencing new things. I enjoy plants and nature, travelling, cooking, and documentaries or non-fiction books about people and their lived experiences. I’m especially curious about people’s stories, cultures, and the experiences that shape us—and that curiosity is something I bring into the therapy room.
